ENGLEWOOD — Chicago rapper King Yella broadcast the aftermath of his own shooting in an Englewood underpass Tuesday evening.

King Yella, 26, whose real name is Cemone Lewis, said in videos posted to social media that he was shooting a “Black Lives Matter video” when a hail of bullets left him with a gunshot wound in his arm and a graze wound in his side.

Lewis appears to be the man Chicago Police said was shot at 6:55 p.m. Tuesday in the 6500 block of South Wentworth Avenue.

Police said the shooting, carried out from a passing car, appeared to be gang-related.

After the shooting, a Twitter account representing the Black Disciples gang posted a video of the shooting and claimed responsibility.

In his own series of videos, Lewis recorded himself driving shirtless while appearing to bleed from his left side. Later, he turned the camera on himself in a hospital bed, with a bandage wrapped around his arm.

Lewis said the video he was shooting Tuesday was part of a “stop the violence movement”he’d been leading.
